Lesson #6 He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands

In this lesson, we will back build, reviewing your chords, A, E7, & D, playing through Ol’ Texas, and starting your second song, He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands.  As we move along, it really will help if you will print out the song sheets for our songs, and keep them in a binder in alphabetical order. Many lessons, we will warm up with your previous songs, then start your new ones.  Have your song book ready!!  Download button below.

Lesson #5 Continued Practice-Chord Close ups

Let’s do some extra practice on chords, including our new chord, “D”.  You should use Lesson 5, and this lesson 5 practice session for at least 3-4 days, so you are ready when your next lesson is released.

Lesson #5: Ol’ Texas – A, E7 and add a new Chord, D.

We can move a bit faster now on Ol’ Texas, if you’ve been practicing. We’ll also learn a new chord today, the “D” chord. Things are going to start moving a bit smoother here!  Practice with this and previous videos for at least 3-4 days before your next lesson is released.  It’s best if you have your song sheet in front of you.

Lesson #4: Ol’ Texas

Congratulations on making it here! We are ready to learn our first song. Be sure to remember what we learned in the first few lessons like A and E7.  And, go over my tuning video in the technique section.  Remember your string names from top to bottom are E A D G B E, string numbers 6 5 4 3 2 1.  Tune your guitar, if possible,  before we start.  You should play your guitar with this and previous videos at least 3-4 days before you move on to the next lesson.  I recommend you print out songs, as we reach them, and keep them in a binder.  Download button to view or print is right below here.

Lesson #2: Review A, E7, and Rock beat, moving forward.

Going over A & E7, and our strum, rock beat. With each lesson, we will move a little faster.  Again, please be sure you know your string names, E A D G B E, so you can use your clip on tuner to tune your guitar.  Don’t be afraid to ask around for help with tuning.  There is always someone in your life who plays some guitar.  If not, ask your nearby music store, or, your school music teacher, church music minister, or youth group music minister.  You should use this lesson for playing your guitar daily for at least practices, before moving on to Lesson #3.

Lesson #1, continued – Strum close up

Here is a practice video to use after your first lesson. This one helps explain our strum, rock beat, with close up video of my right hand.  Play this and use for practice as many times as you need to improve your strum.

Lesson #1: A & E7

Welcome to your first lesson!  In this first video, you will learn the parts of the guitar, 2 chords, “A” and “E7”, and a beginner strum, called Rock Beat.  Please get some help at first to get your guitar tuned before we start.  If you purchase a clip on tuner, watch my technique video for tuning, and,  practice tuning your guitar,  and get help from a friend, or music store to be sure you are tuning correctly.  You will need to use this and the following 2 videos to play for at least 3 days before moving on to lesson #2.
