This video will give you some help on how to use a clip-on tuner.  Make sure you learn the names and numbers of your strings. E, A, D, G, B, & E, coincides with strings 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, & 1.  This is from the top of your guitar, down.  Replay this video as many times as you need!!!

Let’s learn how to use a syncopated strum that I named Funk Rock.  It makes many 4/4 time songs much more interesting, when you can change up the strum.

 

 

Polka Beat

In this technique video, we will learn how to play the polka beat on the guitar.  It’s the first strum I ever learned, and seems to be disappearing.  Not many people know, or use this strum.  If it strikes your fancy, learn it, and use it in songs like Jingle Bells, and Jalisco.  There are many songs with a 2/4 beat, that can use this; definitely a lot of Spanish songs.

 

Standard ¾ strumming pattern

In this technique video, let’s work on learning to strum in 3/4 time.  That’s pronounced “three-quarter time.”  This is a common strum in a lot of Christmas songs like, Silent Night, and Away in the Manger.

 

Standard 4/4 picking pattern
